US 31 traffic change Friday night

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) expects to shift traffic on US 31 between 151st and 136th Streets on Friday, April 13.  The traffic switch will occur overnight to reduce inconvenience to drivers, but will be postponed until Saturday night if it rains.  Southbound traffic will have short-term lane restrictions as the new work zone traffic configuration is implemented.

Southbound traffic will be redirected across the median just south of 151st Street to share the east side of the highway with northbound traffic.  Northbound traffic will be shifted slightly east on temporary pavement to accommodate two lanes of traffic in both directions and turn lanes.  Southbound traffic will return to normal southbound lanes at a median crossover south of Range Line Road and Clay Terrace Boulevard.

At the same time, traffic on Range Line Road and Clay Terrace Boulevard will be shifted onto temporary pavement, and a new signalized intersection with US 31 will be used.  Access to US 31 from Circle Drive will be closed and Frontage Road will provide access to Range Line Road and Clay Terrace Boulevard.

Southbound US 31 to Keystone Parkway closed Monday, April 9 and is expected to be closed for 90 days.  Bridge construction requires the closure of the Hagan-Burke Trail at least three days per week during this time.  The trail will not be closed for more than three consecutive days and will most likely be closed Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays each week, although weather and construction activities could alter this schedule.  The trail will be open for the Carmel Marathon, and construction activities will be coordinated to accommodate the event.
