Recommendation: Ravenswood Old Hill Ranch Zinfandel 2008, $56

Most assuredly, Zinfandel is a rib’s best partner. Jammy, dark and fruity–often with loads of black pepper and spice–it is sweet without really being sweet, and that helps with a tangy barbecue sauce. Watch out for wine with a high amount of alcohol as it might push the heat in the sauce over the top. Available at specialty shops and online.
