INDOT logo gif 475x310 q85The Indiana Department of Transportation is altering the traffic pattern on U.S. Highway 31 between Monon Drive and 151st Street in Hamilton County.

Monday night, northbound U.S. 31 traffic was shifted 12 feet to the right.  There are two through lanes and one turn lane—with one of the lanes on temporary pavement that was placed last Friday.

Thursday night, southbound U.S. 31 traffic will be narrowed from three through lanes with two turn lanes to two through lanes and one turn lane.  Reduction in lanes is needed for the construction of a paved crossover between 151st Street and Greyhound Pass.   Early in April, INDOT will route all U.S. 31 traffic to east side lanes—allowing the state’s contractor, Walsh Construction, to work on the west side of the roadway.

Also on Thursday night, motorists will be restricted to a single lane in each direction on Clay Terrace Boulevard.  Turn lanes will also be maintained.  This traffic pattern change will allow construction of the south half of a roundabout at Circle Drive.

This $35.7 million U.S. 31 Major Moves interchange project at 146th Street is part of a larger INDOT construction effort to bring U.S. 31 up to freeway standards through Hamilton County.  For graphic representation of the project go to http://www.us31hamiltoncounty.in.gov/st146-151.html.
