I-465 Closure At Allisonville Road this Sunday

0

The Indiana Department of Transportation has issued a permit to Comcast allowing a full closure of Interstate 465—all lanes both eastbound and westbound—at Allisonville Road for a brief period of time between 8 and 8:30 a.m. this Sunday.

During the closure, utility lines crossing I-465 will be lowered and removed in advance of demolition and construction at the Allisonville Road bridge site.

State police will direct traffic management.

Work to build an embankment at the construction site has already begun.  But Walsh Construction, the state’s contractor for this $19 million Major Moves project, does not plan to take down the Allisonville Road bridge until after Memorial Day weekend.  At that time, a single-point urban interchange designed to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow will be built.

The contract calls for an accelerated construction schedule of 110 days—with interstate ramp access maintained much of the time.
