Recently SIGNARAMA Carmel was certified as a green business by the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce. SIGNARAMA Carmel is one of only 99 businesses in the Greater Indianapolis area to be certified as a green business.
As a certified green business, SIGNARAMA must meet certain local, state and federal environmental requirements and must reapply every two years to maintain their certification. Certified green businesses must be at least a bronze member of the Central Indiana Clean Air Partnership and must take part in four to six green practices in water conservation, energy conservation, recycling, purchasing, transportation and waste reduction and prevention.
According to the Indianapolis Green Business Web site, green businesses “contribute to a healthy environment and economy, improve the health of workplaces and boost employee morale, strengthen bottom lines by operating more efficiently and wasting less, and have a marketing edge over their competition.”
“With the current emphasis on methods for businesses to reduce costs, as well as the push towards environmental awareness, it made sense for us to look at our own processes and see what we could do, “ said SIGNARAMA Carmel owner Joel Hall. “What we found out is that saving money and environmental stewardship can go hand in hand. The certification was really just a second step to help us document how we had changed our services.”
