INDOT plans 146th Street lane closure

0

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) plans to close the right turn lane from northbound Clay Terrace Boulevard onto 146th Street to allow construction crews space for moderating the turning radius at that corner. Work is scheduled to begin on Thursday—weather permitting—and should continue for several days.
Motorists will be allowed to make right turns from the center thru-lane until restrictions are lifted.
Beaty Construction, the state’s contractor, is widening the 146th Street bridge to accommodate six lanes of traffic, including two thru lanes in each direction and left or double-left turn lanes. Plans call for a broad pedestrian path on the south side of the structure. The $6.4 million Major Moves project also widens the roadway between the Clay Terrace Boulevard and Greyhound Pass intersections.
Next week, the right-of-way along U.S. Highway 31 near Clay Terrace will be cleared and staked for utility relocation that must be done in advance of future construction there.
