Westfield Mayor Andy Cook announced today that the famous Wolf Challenge organized by professional golfer Fuzzy Zoeller will be held at Westfield’s The Bridgewater Club this August.  Fuzzy Zoeller’s Wolf Challenge has raised nearly $2 million for charity over the past 14 years and supports Fuzzy’s Charities for Kids.  Last year’s recipients included Riley Children’s Foundation and March of Dimes.

The 15th Annual Fuzzy Zoeller’s Wolf Challenge will include world famous golfers Fuzzy Zoeller, Craig Stadler, Ben Crenshaw and Curtis Strange.   This year’s event will potentially draw 10,000 spectators to the City of Westfield.  The event will be held Friday, August 12 through Sunday, August 15.   The three-day golf event will include participant play on Friday and Saturday and the Wolf Challenge on Sunday.  Participant packages and tickets will be sold closer to the event.

According to Wolf Challenge officials, Westfield’s The Bridgewater Club was chosen because of its central location, the outstanding amenities of the club, its championship quality Pete Dye course and because of the strong desire of Westfield to host championship sporting events.   “We are thrilled and honored to be the host city of this nationally recognized event,” says Mayor Andy Cook.  “Our emerging sports culture and the creation of Grand Park Sports Campus here in Westfield continues to be a draw for our city and I expect many more similar events to want to occur in Westfield,” says Cook.

In total, the four player field has a total of 69 PGA and Champions Tour Victories including 10 Major Championships.  Highlights:  Zoeller won the Masters in 1979 and the US Open in 1984.   Crenshaw won the Masters in 1984 and 1995.  Stadler won the Masters in 1982 and the 2003 Senior Players Championship.  Strange won the US Open in 1988 and 1989.
