Westfield Clerk-Treasurer Cindy Gossard today officially announced her candidacy for re-election in the Republican primary.

Gossard has served Westfield as clerk-treasurer for 10 years and was first appointed following the resignation of the previous clerk-treasurer in 2001.  She was elected to a four-year term as clerk-treasurer in 2003 and again in 2007.

As clerk-treasurer, Gossard maintains the financial records, invests city revenues, collects and disburses governmental funds and payroll for all city employees. She has obtained the professional designations of Indiana Accredited Municipal Clerk (IAMC), Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC), and Certified Public Finance Administrator (CPFA), one of only 39 to receive this designation in 2004 in the US and Canada.  She is currently obtaining Master Municipal Clerk certification.

“This financial position is a vital function as we in Westfield thrive as a vibrant city,” she said in a release. “Serving in my 10th year as clerk treasurer, and my commitment to accountability in government makes me uniquely qualified.”
