Letter: Elect Cook

0

Editor,

Westfield’s election turnouts have not been good. The May primary was a new low with only 7 percent because Mayor Andy Cook was not on the ballot. This gave the outsiders victories with very small numbers. Cook has a Libertarian opponent Nov. 5.

Cook’s vision has included bringing citizens into making decisions, such as WeCAN and the Grand Junction Task Group that grew from eight to more than 200 to solve our old downtown’s failings. His leadership led to our first parks and trails. We would not have our world-famous Grand Park that pays its own expenses if it weren’t for Cook. Grand Park continues to attract numerous businesses – our best taxpayers. He has held the line on expenses. The state caps our taxes at 1 percent, plus the referendum that you vote for, it may be a surprise that the state does not allow them to go higher nor lower than that. The city’s TIFs have worked to get school bonds retiring.

Please remember to vote for Cook Nov. 5. His opponent’s inexperience and record would lead to disaster.

Mic Mead, Westfield
