Where to go: Passione Pane
Address: 11640 Brooks School Rd, Fishers,
What to get: Wood Oven Pizza
Mike G’s take: Pizzas, pasta, meatballs, fresh bread and other great wood-oven dishes. Passione Pane uses fresh ingredients to make delightful Italian meals that you can only get there. When you walk into the pizzeria, you feel like you are in a different part of Hamilton County, a small, intimate feel that has the aesthetic of a boutique and the food to match it. A fun fact is that some of the ingredients are sourced from Italy.
What I tried: With more than a dozen signature pizza options, I had to order two on my first visit. Both were distinctive in their combination of ingredients and tasted excellent. My favorite was the Meat Lovers’, made with mozzarella, delicious spicy homemade sausage, pepperoni and a choice of bresaola (air-dried beef from Valtellina, a valley in the Alps of northern Italy) or prosciutto (air-dried ham that originated in northern Italy). The other was the Montanara, a combination of mozzarella and creamy ricotta cheeses, homemade sausage and mushroom.
What to try: Wood Oven Pizza – You have many options. You get to select crust between the traditional Roman (thin) and a Neapolitan (thick) for each pizza.
Bruschetta – The best I’ve had, with Pane Rustico bread with fresh Roma tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil, basil, salt and pepper.
Gelato – Rotating flavors are sourced locally. Rich and creamy and worth a try.
