More than 20 Zionsville Village merchants will join for an ’80s-themed night of shopping and dining. “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 3 in the Village on South Main Street.

“It’s just a group of the Village merchants working together to try to create a fun shopping and dining experience,” said Erica Carpenter, owner of Fivethirty Home. “We created a committee last summer to put this all together.”

Guests are encouraged to dress in ’80s attire.

“We decided on an ’80s theme because it’s just too good of an era to pass up,” Carpenter said. “We wanted to make it fun. We hope that the people who are coming will dress up. The merchants are going to dress up, so it should be a fun night.”

Merchants will offer discounts or specials throughout the evening.

“I know the Lemon Bar is going to have neon cupcakes staying within the theme,” Carpenter said. “I think each merchant is taking this opportunity and making it something unique for their shop that fits their brand.”

There will be ’80s music playing and a photo booth.

“This is going to be a fun opportunity for people to get some girl time in,” Carpenter said. “I know if I don’t put something on the calendar to do with my friends, it doesn’t get done.”

An award for best dressed will be presented.

“We really hope this event attracts people to the Village merchants,” Carpenter said. “We’d love to start doing more things like this in the future. I think we’ll change up the theme each time to keep it fun.”
