A program providing funding for a women’s clinic at Hancock Regional Hospital will conduct its 21st annual Women Helping Women fundraiser at 5 p.m. Oct. 24 at Adaggios Banquet Hall and Conference Centre, 5999 W Memory Lane.

The James T. Anderson Center for Women’s Health at Hancock Regional Hospital provides women’s care, such as mammograms, to the uninsured or underinsured with a high deductible free of charge.

“The Women Helping Women celebration is every year to raise money for that clinic,” Hancock Health Foundation Manager Allyson Smith said. “The event has grown because when it first started, it was just in the basement of the hospital and maybe 50 people came and we have sold out at 400 people the past couple of years.”

Last year, proceeds provided care for 198 women through the clinic. In its first year, the Women Helping Women event paid for 26 mammograms. The this year’s theme is “21st Birthday Party.” It will offer birthday-themed food, decorations and cupcakes. Live music will be provided, and there will be a live and silent auction.

Marquez and Nathan Green, two competitors on American Ninja Warrior, will speak at the event. Their mother died from breast cancer.
