Students from Zionsville Community High School, along with their fathers, are invited to participate in the 18th annual Zionsville Dad’s Day Breakfasts. There are seven breakfasts held throughout the school year for fathers and their sons or daughters to share a meal while listening to a motivational speaker.

Speakers have included former Purdue and IU basketball and football players, former Indianapolis Colts players and operational staff, ZCHS varsity coaches Zionsville-area businessmen and humanitarians.

“(The speakers) often tell stories and share insights that focus on their relationship with their father and their relationship with their kids, if they have kids,” said John Waller, leader of the Zionsville Dad’s Day Breakfasts. “They tell stories that focus on that dynamic. We also have the speakers talk about who they are and what they have learned in their journey to become who they are. We hope there will be some laughter and some stories that will inspire both the kids and the dads.”

The breakfasts are held on seven Thursdays during the course of the school year: Sept. 19, Oct. 24, Nov. 21, Jan. 16, 2020, Feb. 20, 2020, March 19, 2020 and April 16, 2020. The breakfasts are from 7 to 8 a.m. in the ZCHS cafeteria, with the speaker talking for approximately 20 to 30 minutes. Admission is $20 for a father and student and $5 extra for each additional student.

“Spending quality time with your teenager is meaningful, but it’s also hard to do with busy schedules,” Waller said. “The dads are busy with work and the kids are busy with school and extracurricular activities. It’s a good time to sit down and spend time talking with your kid and listening to messages from the speakers.”
