For the 21st consecutive year, the Financial Center First Credit Union will hold its annual golf outing to raise money for military families, feeding the hungry and financial literacy. The outing is set for 10:30 a.m. June 5 at The Fort Golf Resort, 6002 N. Post Rd., Lawrence.

“We hold it right here at the Fort. Mostly, it’s our vendors and members who play, but anyone in the community can participate,” FCFCU Vice President of Membership Development Dusty Simmons said. “It’s just a great opportunity to play at an extremely beautiful course and hang out with people who are in the Lawrence community and support local charities in the city as a part of community outreach.”

Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. The fee $150 per player fee includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. After golf, there will be a silent auction. Simmons said the group’s goal is to raise more than $20,000. She said the fundraiser’s all-time high was $25,000, and last year the outing raised $23,000.

There will be prizes for the first-, second- and third-place teams.

Sponsorship opportunities are available. The registration and sponsorship deadline is May 29.

Last year, a portion of proceeds helped launch a new youth scholarship program within the financial center. Other organizations benefiting from last year’s event included the Indiana Military Veterans Hall of Fame, the Association of the United States Army, the Lawrence Exchange Club, Fort Harrison Veterans, Mozel Sanders Thanksgiving Day Feast, St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry and Midwest and Gleaners food banks.
