The Flying Cupcake in Carmel was the only bakery in Indiana selected to launch Facebook’s Birthday Stories feature.
Facebook partnered with 50 bakeries across the United States (one in each state) to give away free treats for the May 10 launch.
The Birthday Stories is a new feature where friends and family can add digital birthday cards, photos or videos to a story to celebrate a birthday,
All 370 cupcakes were given out during the two-hour session at 831 S. Range Line Rd.
“They reached out to us and we were thrilled,” Flying Cupcake owner Kate Drury said. “It’s mutually beneficial to us.”
Drury said the fact The Flying Cupcake has more than 35,000 Facebook followers was likely a factor in its selection.
The Flying Cupcake has six shops in the Indianapolis area.
