The Great Pumpkin Run, a 5K race in its third year, was Sept. 29 at Dull’s Tree Farm in Thorntown. Participants followed a trail that wound through the farm alongside fields. For an additional fee, some runners carried a small pumpkin as an extra challenge. Afterward, they gained free entrance to the farm to celebrate fall with wagon rides, apple cider, corn mazes, pumpkin picking and more. The race’s founders, Courtney and Erik Young, created Sour Fish Events in 2012 and organize races across the U.S. The Great Pumpkin Run began in Cincinnati and has expanded every year. It now takes place in 11 cities.
