Letter: Thanks to the many CarmelFest volunteers

Another successful CarmelFest has come and gone, with an estimated attendance in excess of 55,000 people. This community gem is made possible through its many and dedicated volunteers.

The primary committee of 50, along with an additional 400 volunteers over the two-day event, spent more than 6,000 hours planning and executing the affair. This includes obvious areas like the parade, fireworks, food, market vendors, fun zones and entertainment to the more behind-the-scenes activities like marketing/PR, facilities and operations, general development and finding/coordinating the volunteers.

James Bednarski, chairman of the 2018 event, was grateful for all of the support.

“This event would be impossible without the generous effort of our hard-working festival committee and the hundreds of additional volunteers it takes to make the CarmelFest parade, festival and fireworks happen,” he said.

Bednarski added that the financial support of CarmelFest sponsors, such as Centier Bank for the parade and Allied Solutions for the fireworks and North Stage acts, also was critical to the success of the event.
