Singer-songwriter Mac McAnally is coming back to CarmelFest to lead the final concert of the night July 3 in the North Zone.

McAnally is a renowned musical artist, producer, songwriter and studio owner from Mississippi who has collaborated with country artists since the late ‘70s. He is a solo artist with 14 albums and a member of Jimmy Buffet’s Coral Reefer Band. By claiming nine of the last 10 CMA Musician of the Year awards, he is tied with Chet Atkins for the most wins in the category.

McAnally last performed at CarmelFest in 2011. Steve Greenberg, volunteer manager of the North Stage, said the concert generated the largest crowd at the time and many guests were able to talk to or receive an autograph from McAnally after the concert.

“For this year, CarmelFest leadership wanted a national act for the 30th anniversary and asked me if I knew of anyone,” Greenberg said. “Mac immediately came to mind because of his performance here in 2011 and nearly two years ago at the former Warehouse, which was sold out for his show.”

McAnally’s set will feature fellow Coral Reefer, Eric Darken, as the percussionist. The concert begins at 9 p.m. July 3 on the North Stage.
