“We just decided this is something really cool that we needed to do for our community,” said Lisa Brown, one of the organizers of the event.

The July 28 event is open to any groups in Zionsville of any size. Teams may be separated into different divisions and smaller groups may be combined to level the playing field. All ages older than 5 are encouraged to participate.

“We took that idea of the (downtown Indianapolis) Corporate Challenge and said, ‘Let’s do that for our community’,” Brown said.

Groups can be formed through sports teams, employee groups, churches, Scout troops, neighborhoods or friends. Individuals who would like to be involved but can’t form a group will be placed on a ZCS Strong team.

Entry fees will be waived or refunded for any group that completes a service project prior to the event. Suggestions are available through event organizers if needed.

“If they have an idea, go for it,” said, Brown adding that the $10 per team member cost covers T-shirts and other expenses.

Discounts are available for early registration.

“We’re not trying to fundraise, we’re trying to bring the community together,” Brown said.

During the competition, team members will rotate through a variety of events such as corn hole, kickball or an inner tube relay. The competition will end with a tug-of-war challenge.

The ZCS Strong in Every Way program aspires to develop resilience, understanding and grit in local youth.
