Due to the forecasted weather for March 24, the Underground Railroad Run has been moved to April 15. This is the first time since the run’s inception 20 years ago that its date has changed due to weather.
The run was postponed due to concern for the safety of the runners and walkers during inclement weather. Packet pick-up for the new date will now be from noon to 6 p.m. April 13 at Westfield High School, 18250 N. Union St., Door No. 5.
The run time remains the same, beginning at 9 a.m. April 15. The walk begins at 9:30 a.m. The health fair also will still occur. The route will be adjusted to avoid passing by church properties, since the new date takes place on a Sunday morning.
The Underground Railroad Run is a fundraiser to benefit the Westfield Education Foundation, which provides teacher grants and student scholarships within the Westfield Washington Schools district.
