Coxhall Garden Guild’s Holiday Tablescapes to feature festive décor

The Coxhall Garden Guild wants to provide Carmel residents with a little holiday decor inspiration by hosting Holiday Tablescapes from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 3 and 4 at Coxhall Mansion.

“Guests will be able to tour the entire mansion, see the designers table decor and maybe get some ideas for the holidays. We have several designers, florists and vendors who are decorating tables and rooms of the mansion,” said Becky Chance, Coxhall Garden guild member.

The group is part of the Friends of Hamilton County Parks.

“This group of women just loves the property, and many of them are master gardeners that take care of the Coxhall Children’s Garden,” Chance said. “We just all feel very strongly about appreciating the park and promoting activities and fun things for landscaping around the mansion.”

The event is being held to raise funds for new landscaping around the mansion.

“They’re called knot gardens. They do them in designs out of boxwoods. The proceeds will benefit the design all around the mansion that is being installed now,” Chance said.

Guests will see a Christmas-themed wedding in the main entry, holiday decor in the ballroom, tablescapes in the conference room and decor ideas in the kitchen and dining rooms.

“In one of the bedrooms there is the Williamsburg Replica Dollhouse that the parks department installed. It’s actually a replica of the Governor’s Palace from Williamsburg. People taking the tour will be able to see that, as well,” Chance said.

The cost to attend is $15 at the door. Complimentary tea, coffee and cookies will be offered in the ballroom.

“It’s our first time doing this event. I’m hoping it’s very successful. I think if it is we would be interested in doing it again,” Chance said.
