On May 3, Carmel City Center welcomed its newest locallyowned business, Uplift Intimate Apparel.

A Hoosier-native and Carmel resident, Uplift Intimate Apparel owner Carla Mackie, 64, said she decided to open her own lingerie boutique after managing a lingerie store in Virginia and working in the lingerie business for the past 12 years.

Mackie said it was her desire to be near her family and her love of the lingerie business and helping women that led to opening the shop.

The boutique offers European lingerie, and a majority of the lines are exclusive to Uplift Intimate Apparel in Indiana.  Brands include Conturelle, Anita, Lise Charmel, Fabienne Hansoul and Marlies Dekkers. The boutique offers bras, panties, bridal lingerie and Saxx, a line of men’s underwear. The boutique also offers exclusive, customizable, couture lingerie by Jane Woolrich. Through the Jane Woolrich brand, shoppers can customize the fabric, lace and color of their intimate apparel.

Uplift Intimate Apparel is the first U.S. store to launch Jolidon, a European line of fashion swimwear.

Mackie, a professionally trained fitter, said Uplift Intimate Apparel offers complimentary fittings for every customer.

“The fitting room is where the magic happens,” Mackie said.

Mackie said after receiving a bra fitting, women feel remarkably different when matched with a proper bra for their size and body shape.

“If you start with your undergarments and work out, it just starts your day off better,” Mackie said.

Uplift Intimate Apparel offers bands from 30 to 46 and cup sizes from A to J.

Mackie said the boutique is meant to be relaxing and to give women the time they need to purchase intimate apparel.

Uplift Intimate Apparel is at 711 Veterans Way, Suite 136 on the interior plaza level of Carmel City Center.
