Letter: ‘Truth is vital to democracy’

Terry Anker’s supremely condescending column that compares protesters to spoiled rich women or bratty toddlers who won’t eat their peas dismisses one of the founding principles of our democracy. The first amendment to the constitution guarantees a citizen’s right to free speech, assembly, and redress of grievances. My wife and daughter both participated in marches because they have serious reservations about the new president’s seeming indifference to this and other founding principles of our democracy. They will not be content to “make noise ” and go back home. Truth is vital to democracy.
