INDOT logoConstruction is now underway on the 146th Street Interchange, with utility relocation expected to be complete near Range Line Road and US 31 by March 15, 2012.

Access to Range Line Road from US 31 will remain open until July 2012, after which southbound motorists will use the new 146th Street Interchange, and northbound motorists will use Greyhound Pass until this project is complete.

After construction is finished, an underpass being built as part of the 146th Street Interchange project will connect Range Line Road to Clay Terrace Boulevard.

Construction on Circle Drive, and the roundabout that will link the Range Line Road underpass to Clay Terrace Boulevard when construction is complete, will begin in mid-to-late March.

As part of construction on the 146th Street Interchange, the following restrictions and/or closures will be in place:

  • Southbound US 31 ramp to Keystone Parkway closed beginning April 9
Beginning April 9, INDOT will close the ramp/bridge from southbound US 31 to Keystone Parkway from 146th Street to 136th Street to rebuild the bridge over the Hagan-Burke Trail and creek. Southbound US 31 traffic will not be able to access Keystone Parkway during this closure, which is expected to last approximately 90 days. The official signed detour will direct southbound US 31 traffic traveling to southbound Keystone Parkway to follow the southbound US 31 to I-465 route.Once the southbound lanes reopen, likely in mid-July, the northbound lanes of Keystone Parkway will close for approximately 80 days while work continues on the bridge over the Hagan-Burke Trail and creek. Lowe’s Way will be the detour connecting to 146th Street for Clay Terrace shoppers and to Greyhound Pass for access to northbound US 31.Due to the construction, beginning April 1, the Hagan-Burke Trail will be closed intermittently on weekdays. The trail will remain open on weekends.
  • Upcoming traffic shift on US 31 from 136th Street to Greyhound Pass
Depending upon favorable weather conditions, northbound US 31 traffic from 136th Street to Greyhound Pass will shift 10 to 12 feet to the right of the current northbound lanes on Monday, March 12. This configuration will be in place through July. A reduced speed limit of 40 mph will be enforced throughout the construction area until mid-November.

Lane configuration changes on northbound US 31 near Clay Terrace
The dual left-turn lanes from northbound US 31 into Clay Terrace will be restricted to a single left-turn lane, beginning Friday, March 9.
