Mayor John Ditslear’s first declared opponent in May’s Republican primary has dropped out of the race.

Retired Noblesville firefighter Marshall White announced today that he has taken himself out of the running to be they city’s next mayor. White, a 27-year veteran of the Noblesville Fire Department, said the decision came after numerous discussions with family members and advisors.

“I thought that my service to our citizens could continue as Noblesville city mayor,” White said in a release.  “What I realized was that a political process can be very complicated and time consuming, and after much thought and consultation, I have decided that this is not the right time.”

White’s announcement came just days after a third candidate for the Republican nomination, Steve Brown, filed to run.
