New Indiana Secretary of State Charlie White resigned from his position as chairman of the Hamilton County Republican Party Dec. 31, and his replacement is expected to be selected next week.

“I believe that it is important that all Hoosiers have confidence that I will focus my energies on the job I was elected to perform and work for all of our citizens regardless of party affiliation,” White said in his public resignation.

Hamilton County GOP Executive Director Andrew Greider said Tuesday that a caucus will be held next Monday at the courthouse in Noblesville during which a new chairman would be selected. In his resignation letter, White endorsed his vice chairman, Pete Emigh.
